Detailed information about the product

Product Overview

Water AR (CAS No. 7732-18-5) is analytical-reagent water intended as a solvent and reagent medium for conventional laboratory chemistry. Water’s polarity, hydrogen-bonding capability and ability to solvate ions make it the principal medium for acid–base, precipitation, titrimetric and numerous other wet-chemical procedures. The AR designation indicates suitability for analytical reagent use but does not itself define unprovided numerical conductivity, resistivity, organic-carbon or trace-ion limits.

The AR grade is intended for conventional analytical reagent preparation, sample dilution, blanks and routine wet chemistry. Its role centres on providing a clean aqueous medium for acid–base, precipitation, titrimetric and general analytical laboratory procedures.

Typical Applications

  • Preparation of analytical reagent solutions.
  • Sample dilution in conventional wet chemistry.
  • Acid–base, titrimetric and precipitation procedures.
  • Preparation of laboratory blanks.
  • Washing and final rinsing in analytical workflows where appropriate.
  • General solution and reagent preparation.

Common Synonyms

  • Aqua
  • Dihydrogen monoxide
  • Dihydrogen oxide
  • Oxidane

Storage Conditions

Keep tightly closed and protect from ionic, particulate, organic and microbiological contamination during storage and dispensing. Use clean dedicated containers and dispensing practices appropriate to analytical work.
