Product Overview

Silver Nitrate 99.9% AR/ACS (CAS No. 7761-88-8) is a soluble silver(I) salt whose strong precipitation reactions with halides and selected pseudohalides form the basis of important classical analytical procedures. Silver ions form highly insoluble salts with chloride, bromide and iodide and participate in endpoint chemistry used in argentometric titration systems. Their light sensitivity and susceptibility to reduction also require controlled analytical handling.

The AR/ACS grade is intended for argentometry, precipitation analysis, analytical reagent preparation and laboratory quality control. Silver nitrate solutions used quantitatively may require preparation and verification in accordance with the applicable method rather than assuming certified concentration from the solid assay alone.

Storage Conditions

Keep tightly closed and protected from light to minimise photochemical decomposition and darkening. Use clean analytical dispensing practices and prevent halide, reducing-agent or organic contamination that could consume silver ions or bias analytical blanks.
