Detailed information about the product
Product Overview
Pyridine 99.5% Dried AR (CAS No. 110-86-1) is a nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocycle in which the pyridine ring provides a basic ring nitrogen with a lone pair available for protonation, nucleophilic interactions and coordination to metal centres. This combination of basicity, polarity and organic-solvent compatibility gives pyridine a distinctive role in laboratory chemistry as both a reaction medium and a functional reagent. It readily participates in acid-base chemistry and can form pyridinium salts, while its nitrogen donor character also enables coordination with suitable metal species.
The Dried AR grade is intended for analytical and general laboratory procedures in which the presence of uncontrolled moisture could influence a reaction, reagent system or analytical result. Its reduced-moisture character is particularly relevant to moisture-sensitive preparation, acid-base and derivatisation chemistry, and procedures where pyridine functions simultaneously as solvent and base. Pyridine is well established in acylation and dehydrohalogenation chemistry, condensation reactions, organic synthesis and coordination applications, while pyridine-based analytical reagent systems also occur in established laboratory methods.

Storage Conditions
Keep tightly closed and protected from atmospheric moisture to preserve the product's dried character, particularly after opening, and minimise unnecessary exposure during dispensing or transfer. Store in a cool, well-ventilated area away from excessive heat and incompatible materials, with the container promptly reclosed after use to limit evaporation and moisture uptake.
