Detailed information about the product

Product Overview

N,N-Dimethyl Formamide 99.8% Specially Dried AR (CAS No. 68-12-2) is a reduced-moisture analytical-reagent form of the polar aprotic solvent DMF. Its strong solvating power supports ionic reagents, catalysts and polar substrates, while controlled water contribution is important in procedures where adventitious moisture can consume reactive components, change equilibria or alter analytical response.

The Specially Dried AR grade is intended for moisture-sensitive reagent preparation, non-aqueous analytical work and preparative procedures requiring reduced solvent-borne water.

Typical Applications

  • Preparation of moisture-sensitive analytical reagent and sample solutions.
  • Solvent for water-sensitive substitution, coupling and condensation procedures.
  • Preparation of catalyst, salt and reactive-intermediate solutions requiring reduced moisture.
  • Non-aqueous titration and reaction studies in which water affects endpoint or response.
  • Washing and solvent-exchange procedures requiring specially dried DMF.
  • Method development involving moisture-sensitive organic and coordination systems.

Common Synonyms

  • Specially Dried N,N-Dimethylformamide
  • Dry N,N-Dimethylformamide
  • Dry Dimethylformamide
  • N,N-Dimethylformamide
  • N,N-Dimethylmethanamide
  • Dimethyl Formamide
  • DMF

Storage Conditions

Store in a tightly closed moisture-excluding container and protect from humid air, excessive heat and contamination. Minimise opening and use suitably dry dispensing equipment to preserve the reduced-moisture character and prevent atmospheric water from altering reagent, reaction or analytical performance.
