Detailed information about the product

Product Overview

N,N-Dimethyl Formamide 99.7% For HPLC & UV Spectroscopy (CAS No. 68-12-2) is an instrumental-grade polar aprotic solvent intended for procedures requiring controlled ultraviolet absorbance, non-volatile residue and chromatographic background. Its strong solvating power is useful for polar, highly functional and polymeric samples that may be insufficiently soluble in conventional aqueous or moderately polar solvents.

The HPLC & UV Spectroscopy grade is intended principally for sample dissolution, chromatographic reagent preparation and optical measurements within wavelength regions compatible with DMF’s inherent absorbance. It may also serve as a mobile-phase component in validated non-aqueous or polymer-separation methods.

Typical Applications

  • Preparation and dilution of polar or poorly soluble samples for HPLC.
  • Mobile-phase component in method-compatible non-aqueous liquid chromatography.
  • Eluent or sample solvent in selected polymer and size-exclusion separations.
  • Preparation of HPLC solvent, sample and procedural blanks.
  • Solvent for UV and visible spectroscopic solutions in compatible wavelength regions.
  • Dissolution and chromatographic characterisation of oligomeric and polymeric materials.

Common Synonyms

  • N,N-Dimethylformamide
  • Dimethylformamide
  • Dimethyl Formamide
  • N,N-Dimethylmethanamide
  • N-Formyldimethylamine
  • Formic Acid Dimethylamide
  • DMF

Storage Conditions

Store in a tightly closed container protected from humid air, excessive heat and instrumental contamination. Use clean, dry chromatographic dispensing equipment and minimise repeated opening to preserve water content, low-residue characteristics and reproducible optical and HPLC background.
