Magnesium Chloride Hexahydrate 98% AR (CAS No. 7791-18-6) is a hydrated analytical magnesium chloride reagent providing Mg²⁺ and chloride ions in aqueous solution. The six waters of crystallisation form part of the defined reagent composition and must be included in analytical mass-to-mole calculations.

The AR grade is intended for preparation of analytical magnesium solutions, conventional complexation and precipitation studies and electrolyte-related measurements. It is useful in quality-control and method-development work where a soluble magnesium reagent is required, while its AR status does not imply certified-reference or primary-standard character.
