Product Overview

Iodine Resublimed 99.8% AR (CAS No. 7553-56-2) is high-assay molecular iodine purified by resublimation for analytical-reagent use. Its reversible reduction to iodide and quantitative reaction with suitable reducing species form the basis of classical iodine/thiosulfate and iodometric analytical chemistry. In iodide-containing solutions, molecular iodine also establishes triiodide equilibria that facilitate preparation of homogeneous titration reagents.

The AR grade is intended for preparation and standardisation of iodine-containing analytical solutions, redox titrations and method verification. Resublimed iodine has established use in standardisation of sodium thiosulfate solutions and in quantitative oxidation–reduction procedures where accurately characterised iodine reagent is required.

Storage Conditions
