Product Description

Detailed information about the product

Product Overview

Hydrochloric Acid 25% AR (CAS No. 7647-01-0) is an aqueous hydrogen chloride reagent that establishes strongly acidic chloride media for analytical chemistry. Its proton activity supports neutralisation, dissolution and acid-dependent reactions, while chloride can participate in metal-ion complexation and maintain selected analytes in soluble chloride-containing forms under method-defined conditions.

The AR grade is intended for conventional quantitative and qualitative analytical procedures, analytical reagent preparation and laboratory quality-control work. The stated 25% concentration provides a practical intermediate-strength acid from which lower-strength working solutions can be prepared accurately. It is suited to acid-base procedures, sample dissolution and analytical operations in which a defined hydrochloric acid medium is specified.

Typical Applications

  • Preparation of analytical hydrochloric acid working solutions
  • Acid-base titrations after appropriate solution standardisation
  • Dissolution and acid treatment of compatible analytical samples
  • Preparation of chloride-containing analytical media
  • Neutralisation of alkaline samples and reagents
  • Decomposition of carbonates and acid-soluble inorganic materials
  • Qualitative and quantitative wet-chemical analysis

Common Synonyms

  • Hydrochloric acid
  • Hydrogen chloride solution
  • Aqueous hydrogen chloride
  • Muriatic acid
  • Chlorhydric acid

Storage Conditions

Store tightly closed and protect from excessive heat, evaporation and analytical contamination to preserve solution concentration and reagent blank quality. Minimise prolonged opening and use clean dedicated sampling equipment for quantitative analytical work.
