Product Overview

Citric Acid Anhydrous 99.5% Extra Pure (CAS No. 77-92-9) is the water-free form of 2-hydroxypropane-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid. Its three carboxyl groups provide stepwise acidity, while the central hydroxyl and carboxylate sites support coordination with many metal ions. These combined properties make the compound useful as an acidifying, buffering, complexing and solution-conditioning reagent.

The Extra Pure grade is intended for routine reagent preparation, inorganic and materials synthesis, metal-complexation studies and general laboratory formulation work. The stated purity supports preparative and all basic laboratory use.

Typical Applications

  • Preparation of citrate salts and metal–citrate complexes.
  • Acidification and pH adjustment of laboratory solutions.
  • Preparation of citrate-buffer and acid–citrate reagent systems.
  • Complexing and masking of suitable metal ions in preparative procedures.
  • Chelating component in sol–gel and mixed-metal oxide precursor systems.
  • Control of precipitation, nucleation and particle growth in inorganic materials synthesis.
