Detailed information about the product
Product Overview
Chloroform 99% For Synthesis (CAS No. 67-66-3) is trichloromethane, a chlorinated one-carbon solvent containing three chlorine atoms bonded to a single carbon centre. Its high polarisability, limited water miscibility and ability to dissolve many hydrophobic organic substances make it useful in extraction and reaction systems. Under strongly basic conditions, chloroform can also serve as a precursor to dichlorocarbene.
The Synthesis grade is intended for preparative organic chemistry, reaction work-up and extraction procedures requiring a chlorinated solvent of defined catalogue purity. It is suitable for all the general reaction and separation work in the laboratories.

Storage Conditions
Store in a tightly closed container protected from direct light, excessive heat, prolonged air exposure, evaporation and contamination. Minimise unnecessary opening to preserve solvent composition and limit gradual degradation.
