Product Description

Detailed information about the product

Product Overview

Chloroform 99.8% For HPLC & UV Spectroscopy (CAS No. 67-66-3) is a chromatographic and spectroscopic grade of trichloromethane intended for methods requiring controlled solvent background and low non-volatile contamination. Its hydrophobic solvating character supports dissolution of many aromatic, lipidic and weakly polar compounds, while its optical properties permit UV or visible measurements within method-compatible wavelength regions.

The HPLC & UV Spectroscopy grade is intended for liquid-chromatographic mobile phases, sample preparation, solvent blanks and spectroscopic solution preparation where chloroform is specified by the method.

Typical Applications

  • Mobile-phase component in normal-phase and other non-aqueous HPLC methods.
  • Sample dissolution for hydrophobic, aromatic and lipid-related analytes.
  • Preparation of HPLC solvent blanks and procedural blanks.
  • Extraction and sample-cleanup procedures preceding liquid-chromatographic analysis.
  • Preparation of UV and visible spectroscopic sample and reference solutions.
  • Analytical and preparative chromatography where chloroform is compatible with the stationary phase and detection system.

Common Synonyms

  • Trichloromethane
  • Methane Trichloride
  • Methyl Trichloride
  • Trichloroform
  • Chloroform

Storage Conditions

Store tightly closed and protect from direct light, excessive heat, prolonged air exposure, evaporation, moisture and chromatographic contamination. Use clean dispensing equipment to preserve solvent background, low residue and optical cleanliness.
