Detailed information about the product
Product Overview
Benzyl Alcohol 99.5% GC (CAS No. 100-51-6) is a primary aromatic alcohol containing a hydroxymethyl group directly attached to a phenyl ring. Its molecular structure combines the hydrogen-bonding character of an alcohol with the solvating behaviour of an aromatic system, enabling interaction with a broad range of compatible organic compounds. Under appropriately selected chromatographic conditions, benzyl alcohol can be introduced and resolved directly by gas chromatography.
The GC grade is intended for gas-chromatographic sample preparation, method development, solvent-blank evaluation, and quality-control procedures requiring benzyl alcohol with controlled chromatographic purity. Its comparatively low volatility makes it useful as a high-boiling sample-preparation medium in selected capillary GC procedures, including validated residual-solvent methods, while its defined assay supports comparative, recovery, and impurity-separation studies involving benzyl alcohol.

Storage Conditions
Store in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area. Protect from direct light, excessive heat, prolonged exposure to air, evaporation, and contamination by other volatile organic compounds. Minimise unnecessary container opening and use clean, solvent-compatible dispensing equipment to preserve chromatographic cleanliness and limit oxidation-related impurity formation.
