Detailed information about the product
Product Overview
Benzyl Alcohol 99% AR (CAS No. 100-51-6) is a primary aromatic alcohol in which a hydroxymethyl group is bonded to a phenyl ring. It combines the hydrogen-bonding behaviour of an alcohol with the solvating characteristics of an aromatic system, while the benzylic carbon remains responsive to oxidation and derivatisation. These properties make benzyl alcohol useful both as an analytically controlled reagent and as a specialised solvent in prescribed chemical-analysis procedures.
The AR grade is intended for analytical reagent preparation, selective dissolution and sample-treatment methods, recovery studies, method verification, and laboratory quality-control procedures requiring reagent-grade benzyl alcohol. Its controlled reagent character is particularly relevant where solvent impurities could influence dissolution, reagent blanks, analytical recovery, or the interpretation of test results. ACS technical documentation also recognises benzyl alcohol for the preparation of alkoxides.

Storage Conditions
Store in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area. Protect from direct light, excessive heat, prolonged exposure to air, and contamination. Close the container promptly after use to limit oxidation-related impurity formation and preserve analytical cleanliness. Keep separated from strong oxidising materials.
