Benzene 99.9% GC-HS (CAS No. 71-43-2) is a monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon consisting of a six-membered conjugated carbon framework with delocalised π-electron character. Its volatility and relatively low boiling point make benzene readily transferable from a liquid sample into the vapour phase under headspace-equilibration conditions, which is the fundamental analytical principle behind its use in headspace gas chromatography.
