Detailed information about the product
Product Overview
Benzaldehyde 98.5% Extra Pure (CAS No. 100-52-7) is the simplest aromatic aldehyde, consisting of a formyl group bonded directly to a phenyl ring. Conjugation between the carbonyl group and aromatic system influences its electrophilic behaviour, while the absence of an α-hydrogen directs its base-mediated chemistry towards characteristic pathways such as Cannizzaro disproportionation. Its accessible aldehyde functionality makes benzaldehyde a versatile parent substrate for carbon–carbon and carbon–nitrogen bond formation.
The Extra Pure grade is intended for routine organic synthesis, reaction development, catalyst evaluation, and general laboratory research requiring benzaldehyde of defined assay. It is suitable for condensation, nucleophilic-addition, oxidation, reduction, and imine-forming reactions used to prepare aromatic alcohols, acids, alkenes, imines, and other benzyl or benzoyl derivatives.

Storage Conditions
Store in a tightly closed container in a cool, dark, and well-ventilated area. Protect from heat, ignition sources, prolonged exposure to air, and contamination. Close the container promptly after use, as environmental exposure can promote gradual oxidation and deterioration of the aldehyde reagent.
