Product Overview

Ammonium Bicarbonate 99% AR (CAS No. 1066-33-7) is an inorganic ammonium salt that dissociates in aqueous media to provide ammonium and bicarbonate ions. Its acid–base behaviour produces mildly alkaline solutions and supports controlled studies of bicarbonate equilibria, ionic reactions, and decomposition processes involving ammonia and carbon dioxide.

The AR grade is intended for analytical reagent preparation, quality-control testing, research, and academic laboratory procedures where controlled composition and limited reagent-derived impurities are important. It is suitable for preparing bicarbonate-containing analytical solutions, regulating mildly alkaline reaction conditions, and carrying out wet-chemical investigations involving ammonium or bicarbonate species.

Typical Applications

  • Preparation of analytical reagent and bicarbonate solutions
  • Adjustment of mildly alkaline conditions in wet-chemical procedures
  • Preparation of suitable laboratory buffer systems
  • Source of ammonium and bicarbonate ions in analytical studies
  • Investigation of carbonate–bicarbonate equilibria
  • Selected precipitation and solution-equilibrium experiments
  • Routine quality-control, research, and academic laboratory work

Common Synonyms

  • Ammonium Hydrogen Carbonate
  • Ammonium Acid Carbonate
  • Acid Ammonium Carbonate
  • Bicarbonic Acid, Ammonium Salt

Storage Conditions

Store in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated location. Protect the material from heat, moisture, and prolonged exposure to air. Reseal the container promptly after dispensing to minimise decomposition and preserve analytical reagent quality.
