Detailed information about the product

Product Overview

Ammonia Buffer Solution is an aqueous ammonia–ammonium chloride formulation adjusted to a target pH range of 10.0–11.0. The conjugate base–acid pair resists moderate changes in alkalinity when small quantities of acid or base are introduced, providing a controlled ammoniacal medium for reactions whose selectivity and completion depend on stable alkaline conditions.

The prepared buffer is intended for analytical reagent preparation, complexometric titration, quality-control testing, and routine wet-chemical procedures. It is particularly suitable for maintaining the alkaline environment required for EDTA–metal complex formation and indicator response during the determination of calcium, magnesium, total hardness, and other compatible metal ions.

Typical Applications

  • Buffering of complexometric titrations within the pH range of 10.0–11.0
  • EDTA titration of calcium and magnesium ions
  • Determination of total hardness in water samples
  • Preparation of ammoniacal media for metal-ion analysis
  • Control of indicator response in suitable complexometric procedures
  • Analytical studies involving pH-dependent metal complexation

Common Synonyms

  • Ammonia–Ammonium Chloride Buffer Solution
  • Ammonium Chloride–Ammonia Buffer Solution
  • Ammoniacal Buffer Solution
  • Ammonia Buffer pH 10–11
  • pH 10 Ammonia Buffer
  • Complexometric Titration Buffer

Storage Conditions

Store in a tightly closed, chemically compatible container in a cool and well-ventilated location. Protect the solution from excessive heat, contamination, and prolonged exposure to air. Reseal the container immediately after dispensing to minimise ammonia loss and preserve the specified pH range.
