Detailed information about the product

Product Overview

Acetic Acid Glacial 99.8% For HPLC (CAS No. 64-19-7) is a high-purity chromatography-grade reagent specifically intended for High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) applications and other analytical procedures requiring consistent solvent quality and reliable chromatographic performance. It is a clear, colourless liquid with a characteristic pungent odour and is completely miscible with water, alcohols, and numerous organic solvents. Owing to its excellent chemical compatibility and acidic properties, glacial acetic acid is widely employed as a mobile phase modifier, reagent, and solvent component in chromatographic laboratories.

The HPLC grade is produced to provide the purity and consistency required for routine HPLC analysis, where solvent quality directly influences analytical accuracy and reproducibility. This grade is commonly selected for laboratory applications involving chromatographic separations, analytical method development, pharmaceutical quality control, environmental testing, food analysis, and research laboratories performing liquid chromatographic techniques.

Typical Applications

  • Mobile phase preparation for High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
  • pH adjustment of HPLC mobile phases
  • Preparation of aqueous and organic buffer systems for chromatographic analysis
  • Pharmaceutical quality control and analytical laboratories
  • Method development and validation for liquid chromatography
  • Research and academic laboratories performing chromatographic analysis
  • Environmental, food, and chemical testing laboratories
  • General analytical applications requiring HPLC-grade reagents

Common Synonyms

  • Glacial Acetic Acid
  • Acetic Acid
  • Ethanoic Acid
  • Methanecarboxylic Acid
  • GAA

Storage Conditions

Store in a tightly closed, chemically resistant container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place. Protect from moisture, direct sunlight, excessive heat, and incompatible materials such as strong oxidizing agents and strong alkalis. If crystallization occurs during storage below approximately 16.6°C, warm the container gently until the crystals dissolve completely before use. Reseal the container promptly after each use to minimize moisture absorption and maintain product quality.
