Product Overview

Potassium Metaperiodate 99.5% AR (CAS No. 7790-21-8) is a high-valent iodine(VII) oxidising reagent whose periodate anion reacts predictably with a range of oxidisable functional groups. Its particularly well-established reaction with vicinal diols and related polyhydroxy structures permits conversion to carbonyl products and provides a basis for numerous analytical oxidation and derivatisation procedures.

The AR grade is intended for conventional analytical oxidation, spectrophotometric reagent systems, sample derivatisation and laboratory QC where potassium metaperiodate is specified.

Storage Conditions
