Product Description

Detailed information about the product

Product Overview

Cyclohexane 99% For Synthesis (CAS No. 110-82-7) is a saturated six-membered cycloalkane whose conformationally flexible ring adopts predominantly chair-like arrangements. Its non-polar character, limited water miscibility and ability to dissolve many hydrophobic organic compounds make it useful as a reaction, extraction and processing solvent.

The Synthesis grade is intended for preparative organic chemistry, reaction work-up and materials processing requiring a non-polar hydrocarbon medium of defined catalogue purity. It is suitable for general synthesis and separation.

Typical Applications

  • Non-polar reaction medium in preparative organic chemistry.
  • Extraction of hydrophobic organic compounds from aqueous mixtures.
  • Washing and phase-separation procedures during reaction work-up.
  • Recrystallisation and solvent-exchange studies involving compatible compounds.
  • Substrate in controlled cycloalkane oxidation and radical-functionalisation research.
  • Solution processing of compatible polymers, resins and hydrophobic materials.

Common Synonyms

  • Hexamethylene
  • Hexahydrobenzene
  • Hexanaphthene
  • Benzene Hexahydride
  • Benzene, Hexahydro-
  • Cyclohexane

Storage Conditions

Store in a tightly closed container protected from excessive heat, evaporation and contamination. Minimise unnecessary opening to preserve solvent composition and prevent loss of volatile material.
